The Ministry on the issues of temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced people suggests resuming sanctions against Moldova Iron and Steel Works, situated in the Moldova-uncontrolled Transnistria.

The plant has been under sanctions since 2018, but in March was excluded from the list.

The main customer of MMZ, processing scrap and producing rolled metal, is Russia. In particular, Moldavian metal is purchased to produce military equipment.

“MMZ is situated in the Republic of Moldova, but is de-facto controlled by beneficiary owners connected to the Russian authorities”, the ministry said. (Ukrainian metal)
