Precious metals producer Polymetal International hopes to obtain licenses for survey at three gold-containing fields on Russia’s northernmost Taimyr Peninsula, CEO Vitaly Nesis reported.

In April, Polymetal set up a debut strategic partnership with a junior company to organize exploration on the peninsula, with a shareholding of 70%.

“We have a joint venture with a junior in Taimyr, the bids were submitted several months ago. I hope that we will manage to obtain the licenses soon, we are interested in three fields there. We need such juniors. We have an appetite, financial resources for investment. Now we are re-orienting our exploration program from brownfield to greenfield,” Nesis said.

Polymetal is also interested in Russia’s Bashkortostan Region and Kazakhstan, he added. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
