Several days ago, contractual organizations started the reconstruction process of the parkway along Metalurgiv Avenue, from the intersection of Sobornosti Str. and Metalurgiv Avenue to the intersection of the avenue and Vadima Hurova Str. Yurii Vilkul, Kriviy Rih Mayor, representatives of the contractual organizations, and Yuliia Chermazovich, Head of the Charitable Foundation of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, discussed the scope and timeframe of the planned works at the site.
The reconstruction of the parkway is stipulated by the Social Partnership Agreement between the company and the city. In this area, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih implements two projects:
– External lighting renovation along Metalurhiv Avenue;
– Walkways repair.
The overall cost of these works amounts to around 10 million UAH. NVK Krivorozhelektromontazh performs external lighting renovation. They plan to complete these works in May – before the Europe Day celebrations.
Vladislav Kulemin, Director of NVK Krivorozhelektromontazh: “Here we will install 40 zinc-plated power towers with LED lights and lay 1,200 meters of armored cable. For now, we have already dismantled 70 old power towers with their basement. We laid 1,100 meters of cable, with about 10% remaining. Then we will proceed to power towers installation and equip them with new LED lights, which will improve the lighting quality and save electric power”.
Also today, the workers of Stroitelnyi Alians Sooruzhenie started dismantling the old paving tiles and curbs.
Dmitrii Shelest, foreman, Stroitelnyi Alians Sooruzhenie: “The area of the work site amounts to 11 thousand square meters. First, we are going to level a base, after that we will start new tile laying, it’s called patio. It is a big flat tile, enabling us to make the surface plane and to avoid difference in height; this will make the park a convenient place to walk for women on heels and new mothers with prams. We are going to use four colors of tiles to make the walkways bright and attractive”.
Till the end of May they plan to lay here about 3 thousand square meters, and in the first half of the summer to complete the walkways repair.
Yurii Vilkul, Mayor of Kriviy Rih: “We’re tidying the city after winter, and give special attention to recreational areas for the citizens. Today, we have started renovation of Metalurhiv Avenue; we continue the reconstruction of Bohdan Khmelnytsky Park. In the framework of social partnership with ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, together we will repair the parkway along Metalurgiv Avenue. This year it will see three big events: Europe Day in May, Miner and Steelmaker’s Day in July; and it’s a big feast for the city as there are several mining and steelmaking companies. And in August ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih will celebrate its 85th anniversary. Thus, it’s good that the company has decided to help us and to arrange this area. Moreover, under the Social Partnership Agreement we repair the residential buildings’ facades around the 95th Quarter. For these works, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih provided another UAH 10 million. This works include removal of the old plaster, framing installation and coloring, and repair of decorative elements”. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
