Residents of Ton district in Issyk-Kul region demand to stop exploration of Tash-Bulak uranium deposit, local activist Akzholtoi Tukunov reported.

According to him, the villagers have met with representatives of the government and local executive authorities.

“They, of course, assure that the development of uranium will not harm neither the environment nor the people, but the villagers do not believe and demand to stop exploration. We have recently visited Min-Kush village in Naryn. We were once again convinced that the development of the field will harm not only ours, but also the ecology of the entire region,” Akzholtoi Tukunov believes.

According to him, a foreign company received a license for exploration of uranium until 2020. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
