In 2019 Kyshtym Electrolytic Copper Plant will switch its copper electrolysis shop to the operation on the stainless steel matrixes.
At present some titanium matrixes are used in the manufacture.
The switch to stainless steel matrixes began back in 2015 with the commission of a new machine. At that time 9 thousand stainless matrixes were purchased. The reconstruction plan presupposes gradual purchase of 9 thousand new matrixes in the next 3 years.
“The titanium matrixes use to get oxidized over time. In order to remove this oxide cover they have to be regularly cleaned. Moreover, they have higher resistance, compared to stainless steel, and thus require more electricity in operation. Having replaced them, we will improve the product quality and save electricity”, the company copper electrolysis department director Pavel Plaksin said.
In 2019 the final investments will reach 15 million rubles. All the work must be finished by April. (Ukrainian metal)
