World Class Manufacturing system (WCM) used in most of ArcelorMittal’s units will be implemented in all shops and departments of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih from 2019.
WCM system is based on two main principles that are continuous improvements and losses elimination that give the company a number of advantages in innovation, quality, price, flexibility, delivery performance, service and self-cost.
WCM has been under implementation since 2012 at ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih. Last year over 20 departments used tools of this system. They will be used in each shop of the company from 2019. Total effect of losses elimination for 2013-2018 exceeded $120 million. The savings were much bigger as WCM methodology considered effect only for 1 year since the moment of implementation while improved equipment continued to work reliably.
Owing to the system, a number of shops in ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih achieved significant results. For example, Ore Dressing Plant No. 2, which used to be one of the low-performers several years before, now is one of the best units in Mining Department. It is the place where equipment operates reliably, downtime has been significantly reduced, spare parts management is at a high level and production output is the highest ever since its commission.
