In 2018 global pig iron manufacture grew by 2.79% YoY, to 1.323 billion tons.
According to the World Steel Association, 1.239 billion tons were obtained via blast furnace manufacture, and 84.1 million tons – via direct reduction.
China is still the best producer (771.05 million tons, up by 3.04%). The share of China in the global output is 58.3%.
Ukraine is placed 10th of 44 countries, having increased annual output by 2.05%, to 20.56 million tons.
Previously Ukraine was 8th, but the result worsened due to the loss of a number of enterprises in the pro-Russian terrorist-occupied Donbass. (Ukrainian metal)
