Severstal commission has determined the name for the blast furnace No. 3 at Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works to be commissioned in 2020.
According to the competition, the name of Cherepovchanka (a female citizen of Cherepovets) has been chosen.
It was first suggested by a coke-sinter-blast furnace department worker Elena Andrianovskaya.
The commission received over 400 names connected with the history of the plant, the city, and the region.
The design capacity of the blast furnace No. 3 will be 2.9 million tons of pig iron per year. The cost of the investment project is 28 billion rubles. (Ukrainian metal)
