Rustavi Iron and Steel Works is forced to halt operation because of the dumping prices on the market.

According to an attorney David Erbalidze, who is representing the interest of the company owners, the first blast furnace will be shut down soon.

“One of the main reasons is the rebars imported from Iran at dumping prices and the issue of dumping as a whole”, he said.

“If the issue is not solved, and an antidumping law is not voted, the plant will surely have to suspend operation”, he added.

Rustavi Works has been operating since 1948. It manufactures several types of products, including rebars and seamless pipes. The company employs 2 thousand people. (Ukrainian metal)
