Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry is ready to discuss preferences for the sales of beer in aluminum cans to support deep aluminum recycling, Minister Denis Manturov said.

On October 1 Kommersant business daily reported that the Industry and Trade Ministry had prepared a bill to lift a 2013 ban on the sales of beer and alcoholic drinks in aluminum cans through stands and kiosks and cancelled a prohibition on the sales of beer at night to help the sanction-hit business of tycoon Oleg Deripaska.

Manturov said, “We are ready to discuss these scenarios as well. I hope other producers and recyclers of primary aluminum will emerge. RUSAL is a producer of primary aluminum.”

He said that the measures would not benefit the sanctioned company. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
