The commissioning of the Baim Mining and Processing Works for one of the largest copper-gold deposits in the world – Peschanka in Chukotka – is scheduled for 2022.

According to the region governor Roman Kopin, the previous date was 2024-2025.

“We will see the first investments in 2018, and the project will be commissioned in 2022”, he said.

KAZ Minerals will be the investor.

The resources of the Baim field are 23 million tons of copper and 2 thousand tons of gold (64.3 million ounces). And the Peschanka resources are 9.5 million tons of copper and 16.5 million ounces of gold. (Ukrainian metal)
