Belarusian specialists are busy doing geological prospecting work for the sake of gold extraction in Sudan, Belarusian Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khmel reported on July 19.

The agreement on inviting Belarusian specialists to search for and extract gold in Sudan was reached as Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko visited the country.

“A private company with Belarusian capital now works in Sudan within the framework of public private partnership. The Belarusian government supports the company via the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry. Geological prospecting work is in progress for the sake of gold extraction in Sudan,” said Andrei Khmel.

In addition to geological prospecting work Belarus and Sudan cooperate in other areas, too.

“We are also working on developing a technology for gold enrichment without mercury. Besides, a group of Sudanese specialists trained in the geological study of subsurface resources have been given career enhancement courses in Belarus,” said the official. (BelTA/Ukrainian metal)
