The second stage of a $2.6-billion Boguchany aluminum smelter will be launched until April 2019, CEO of the plant shareholder RUSAL Vladislav Solovyov declared on July 13.

“We will launch the second stage of the Boguchany aluminum smelter at the start of next year. The amount of production is 148,000 tons. The date of the Taishet plant will become clear later, everything will depend on the financing opportunities,” Solovyov said.

The plant is a part of the Boguchany Energy and Metals Complex (BEMO) joint venture of RUSAL and RusHydro, the project also includes a hydropower plant. The first stage of the Boguchany aluminum smelter was launched in 2016. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
