Scrap procuring companies of Ukraine hope that the creation of the free trade zone with Turkey will decrease the export duty on scrap.

At present the Agreement on the Association of Ukraine and EU presupposes the zeroing of the export rate on scrap by 2024.

In 2018 the duty dropped from 9.5 euros per ton to 7.5 euros. In 2020-2021 it will be 5 euros, in 2022-2023 – 3 euros and after 2024 it will be zeroed.

At the same time there are administrative barriers, which prevent scrap exports to EU. They are connected with the fact that scrap-procuring companies cannot prove at the customs that they export scrap of Ukrainian origin. (Ukrainian metal)
