In 2018 Ukraine witnesses the falling of ferrous scrap procuring. In 5 months procurement totaled 1.51 million tons.
“Since early March ArcelorMittal Kirviy Rih has been excluded from scarp procurement list. That’s some 30-40 thousand tons per month”, the UAVtormet association president and Keramet CEO Vladimir Bubley said.
According to him, scrap procurement has also been affected by Ukraine’s sanctions against Moldova Iron and Steel Works, as well as the scrap export duty of 30 euro per ton.
Because of that there is now a surplus of scrap on the market.
In 5 months scrap deliveries to domestic market totaled 1.26 million tons.
“None of the iron and steel works, except for AMKR, has a monthly stock of scrap. As of June 1, the companies stocked 73.5 thousand tons”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
