Hundreds of Krasniy Octyabr employees stopped working and went on a strike. The reason was the news on the labor condition changes because of the FIFA World Cup. The workers were enraged by the tiny salary they would receive during the forced delay in the company operation.
According to FIFA environment demands, since May 25 the company has stopped operating. The employees were told that the works would be shut down for 2 months.
“Some employees will go on vacation, but some will just sit at home with 2 thirds of the wages. That’s some 7-9 thousand rubles. There are also employees who are forced to go to work during this delay time. They will be paid two thirds of the average salary, that’s around 12-15 thousand rubles. But none wants to work for the pennies”, a striking employee said. (Ukrainian metal)
