Severstal will install a new supporting roll at the 5000-mill in the sheet-rolling shop of the Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works in Kolpino.
The roll has already been delivered to the site. Soon the shop specialists will assemble it.
The roll with the diameter of 2.3 meters, the length of 11 meters and the weight of 225 tons was produced by OMZ-Spetsstal. To produce the roll, the company had to cast the largest billet in its history – weighing 443 tons.
“It’s important that the supporting roll is of the domestic make. Previously we had to imports such parts”, Severstal Russian Steel pipe division director Dmitriy Pokrovskiy said. (Ukrainian metal)
