Russian aluminum giant RUSAL has suspended shipments of aluminum using facilities of container shipping company TransContainer, the operator’s CEO Pyotr Baskakov declared on April 17.

“RUSAL doesn’t know yet what is happening so has suspended all shipments. We have delivered about 700 containers of the planned 3,000 per month. Export deliveries have stopped. This does not impact us much,” Baskakov said.

TransContainer’s Deputy CEO Viktor Markov said the company planned consultations with legal advisors on consequences of sanctions against RUSAL to decide on future cooperation with the company.

A representative of TransContainer said that RUSAL had suspended all shipments, but had not recalled a delivery plan for May. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
