In 2017 Ukraine imported 2.66 million tons of anthracite from Russia, or 78.6% of the total imports.
According to the state enterprise Gosvneshinform, imports totaled 3.38 million tons, up 3-fold YoY.
“99.5% of all coal from Russia was imported via middlemen. Average price was $99.3 per ton. Directly Russia supplied only 12.1 thousand tons with the average price of $165.7 per ton. Most of Russia coal was supplied through Switzerland (1.5 million tons at $100.4 per ton) and Great Britain (523.4 thousand tons at $102.6 per ton)”, the state enterprise noted.
The South African Republic exported 714.1 thousand tons of anthracite to Ukraine, 21.2% of the total volume at the average price of $92.1 per ton. (Ukrainian metal)
