Rusal and the Institute of light materials and techniques have developed a unique alloy on the basis of Al-Mg-Sc, the best advantage of which is the 3-fold decrease of scandium contents, while its increased parameters, usual for scandium-containing aluminum alloys are preserved.
Thus, the decrease in cost makes this alloy widely accessible.
The work on the project lasted for 4 years, and investments totaled 90 million rubles.
The trial batches of material are being tested by Russian and foreign companies involved in shipbuilding. (Ukrainian metal)
