NLMK has commissioned a new crusher to process 12 thousand tons of wooden packaging a year.
Investments in the project totaled 46 million rubles.
Now the company will be able to process all its wood waste, while previously it used to crush only 1%.
After crushing the wood splints will be used as raw materials when producing ferrosilicon.
“This project will let us utilize all our wood wastes ourselves. By processing wood, we will stop buying timber for the splint production. This will save a lot of trees every year. For the past 10 years we have decreased our wood waste stocks by 2.8 million tons”, NLMK industrial ecology department director Sergey Yevseyev said. (Ukrainian metal)
