The special commission on environment issues of the city of Kamenskoye has visited Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Combine and checked the measures to decrease pollution.

The commission was created last autumn after numerous complaints of citizens on the worsening of the ecological situation, including considerable volumes of pollution from the combine after it resumed operation.

The works authorities promised to solve the problem.

In particular, this year the company will modernize sintering factories. Repair of one factory is drawing to an end, while the second is scheduled for October. In the second half of the year the converter shop will undergo repairs.

In 2014 DMK pollution was estimated at 90 thousand tons, with 80 thousand tons originating at the sintering factories. (Ukrainian metal)
