Russian aluminum producer RUSAL plans to spend more than 2.6 billion rubles to upgrade the Sayanogorsk aluminum plant in 2018, the company said in a statement.

The bulk of investment will be spent on upgrade of the electrolytic reduction, casting and electrode production.

The company will upgrade an automatic management system to boost efficiency of the electrolytic production. A system to purify liquid aluminum in ladles will be installed in the casting division to increase production of alloys in sheet ingots to 20,000 tons a year.

Over 650 billion rubles of investment will fund a wide-scale modernization of anode furnaces to be done until 20121. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
