In 2017 Russian Railroads purchased 1 million 56.3 thousand tons of rails.
In particular, Evraz sold 719.8 thousand tons and Mechel – 329 thousand tons.
Some 7.5 thousand tons were purchased from Aktyubinsk Rail and Beam Works (Kazakhstan).
RZhD uses rails both for new construction and for repair.
In 2016 RZhD purchased 947.7 thousand tons of rails. (Ukrainian metal)
