In 2017 the Ministry of energy and coal industry has shut down 5 profitless state mines.
“If the reform is completely carried out, we will have no profitless mines. This year we have shut down 5 mines, which have been closing down since 1992. They were just eating up budget money”, the minister of energy Igor Nasalik said.
The ministry’s priority, according to him, is the increase of G-grade coal mining.
“We will not import gas-generating coal and will decrease anthracite consumption to the maximum”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
