The Tominskiy Processing Plant (Chelyabinsk region) has launched the construction of the main building of a plant and other production and auxiliary facilities. When completed, the plant will comprise 17 permanent buildings and facilities.
The Tominskiy Processing Plant has received all the necessary construction permits for the enrichment plant facilities and related infrastructure. Excavation work has already been completed and the structural axes of the plant’s first key building have been installed, together with foundations for an administrative building with a canteen and piles for storage facilities. The foundations for the remaining facilities will be laid in the very near future. Concrete casting is being done with a help of a concrete-masonry unit installed at the construction site. Two hundred workers and approximately 45 units of specialized equipment are engaged on the project.
“The production facilities are scheduled for completion by the end of 2019. The processing plant will then move into its commissioning phase. All the structures designed to replace the Korkinskiy open-pit coal mine will be built in the same year,” said Valeriy Ulanovskiy, CEO of The Tominskiy Processing Plant.
The Tominskiy Processing Plant will be located above the Tominskiy copper-porphyry deposit – one of the 50 largest copper deposits in the world, with 660 million tons of ore.
As of July 2017, over 65 billion rubles have been invested in the project. Given its specifications and technological standards, the Tominskiy Processing Plant is expected to become the largest and the most modern plant in the metallurgical industry. The innovative technologies employed at The Tominskiy Processing Plant will enable processing of copper porphyry ore with a copper content of just 0.44%.
An innovative “Smart Copper” standard will be adopted at the future plant, stipulating the most efficient, high-tech and safe production methods. In particular, all major divisions of the factory will be supplied with aspiration equipment designed to reduce dusting and returning it to the production cycle. A closed water supply system will enable re-use of process water after purification, thereby preventing wastewater from entering natural water bodies.
