In 2018 the Komi Republic intends to mine 4.5 million tons of bauxite ore, up 1.4-fold YoY.
“Modernization of the Sredne-Timanskiy mine and the switch to the neighboring Verkhne-Schugorskoye deposits will allow us to increase output to 4.5-4.7 million tons and keep it on this level for some 30 years”, the deputy chairman of the regional authorities, minister of industry, natural resources, energy and transport Nikolai Gerasimov said.
According to him, the authorities were able to balance the relations with Rusal – from now on the group would pay taxes from the cost of the final product, not raw materials as previously.
“This year we will get some 450 million rubles from them, but after that taxes will grow to 1 billion rubles”, the official added. (Ukrainian metal)
