In October the state enterprise Ukrzaliznytsia intends to increase throughput of the railroad route Kamysh-Zarya – Volnovakha to 19 pairs of cargo trains per day.
Previously the route was not used for transportation, but after the military activities in Donbass started, it became the main route for iron ore raw materials delivery to Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal.
“They started with 9-10 pairs of cargo trains and 2-3 passenger trains per day, then reached 13 cargo and 3-4 passenger trains. In September-October 2016 the company carried out repairs of the route to improve its throughput, and now it’s 16 pairs of cargo trains per day”, the parliament transport committee member Vladimir Gusak reported.
Still, to fully cover the needs Mariupol metal works some 28-30 pairs of cargo trains per day are necessary. (Ukrainian metal)
