The Belarus Iron and Steel Works has produced 1 million tons of hot-rolled seamless pipes, the company’s spokesman Alexander Olesik reported.

The milestone was reached by brigade No. 1 of the plant’s pipe manufacturing facility on August 30. These pipes are intended for the oil and gas industry and will be delivered to a U.S. customer in the near future.

BMZ produces steel pipes for the oil and gas industry in compliance with the American Petroleum Institute specification API 5L. The steel mill has started rolling out the so-called “green pipes”, pipes for hydraulic fracturing, stay tubes, and other kinds of pipes.

Over the last five years, BMZ manufactured 1,117 different kinds of pipes, including 352 rediscovered ones. The whole range of products enjoys a strong demand on the global market. BMZ mainly sells hot-rolled seamless pipes to the USA, Russia, Europe, and Latin America. In 2017, they were joined by Brazil, Greece, Iraq, Columbia, and Croatia.

BMZ put the pipe manufacturing facility into operation in late 2007. It is designed to produce hot-rolled seamless pipes with the outside diameter varying from 21.3 mm to 168.3 mm and the wall thickness ranging from 2.3 mm to 24 mm. They are used in a wide range of fields, for instance, in municipal services, oil and gas production and transportation, and mechanical engineering.

Established in 1984, BMZ is the managing company of the holding company Belarusian Metallurgical Company. BMZ produces cast sections, long and rolled products, reinforcing bars, pipes, metal cord, high-pressure wire, and other sorts of wire. BMZ sells over 80% of the products abroad.
