The extraction of energy and coking coal in Ukraine in January-June decreased by 2.9% YoY, to 18.4 million tons, the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry reported.

According to the report, 2.37 million tons of the total volume of coal was extracted at state-owned mines, where the overall coal production for the said period fell by 21.6%.

In June, 2.6 million tons of coal was mined, of which 0.36 million tons at state-owned mines.

The extraction of energy and coking coal in Ukraine in 2015 as a result of the Donbas hostilities decreased 1.6-fold YoY, to 39.76 million tons.

In 2016, production increased by 2.8%, to 40.864 million tons. (UNIAN/Ukrainian metal)
