In January-June Chukotka Autonomous District mined 217 thousand tons of coal against 140.9 thousand tons in H1 2016.
At present two enterprises mine for coal in the region: the “Ugolnya Mine” JSC at the Anadyr deposits and “Beringpromugol” LLC at Fandyushkinskoye deposits.
In 6 months Ugolnaya Mine yielded 95.5 thousand tons of coal, down by 32% YoY, mostly because of the Anadyr TEPP switching from coal to gas.
Beringpromugol mined 121.5 thousand tons of coal at the deposits, put into operation last year.
This year Chukotka intends to mine 650 thousand tons of coal. (Ukrainian metal)
