The Verkhovnaya Rada committee on industrial policy and entrepreneurship has supported amendments to the decree on the prolongation of the scrap export duty made by the president Petr Poroshenko.

“From the state point of view, it would have been better for the scrap decree to be prolonged for 2 years, and not for 1. But we have to make a real choice: either a compromise decision, or nothing for the industry at all”, the committee chairman Victor Galasyuk said.

On June 8 Verkhovnaya Rada approved of the decree to prolong the scrap export duty of 30 euro per ton for 2 years. But the president returned the bill to the Verkhovnaya Rada with the suggestion to prolong the duty for 1 year only. (Ukrainian metal)
