In January-May Ukraine mined 15.883 million tons of coal, down by 3.2% YoY, or by 517.2 thousand tons.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, coking coal output dropped by 26%, or by 993.1 thousand tons, to 2820.9 thousand tons, while that of power-generating coal increased by 3.8%, or by 475.9 thousand tons, to 12962.6 thousand tons.
In May coal mining decreased by 2.9% YoY, or by 79.9 thousand tons, to 2714.7 thousand tons.
Coal enterprises managed by the ministry decreased coal output in January-May by 22.2% YoY, or by 571.1 thousand tons, to 2.004 million tons, including 399.6 thousand tons of coking coal (down by 47.5%) and 1.604 million tons of power-generating coal (down by 11.5%).
Donetsk region mines in 5 months yielded 5.463 million tons of coal, down by 18.4% YoY, Lugansk mines – 1.480 million tons, down by 21.8%, Dniepropetrovsk – 8.213 million tons, up by 18.2%, Lviv – 577.2 thousand tons, down by 11.4%, and Volyn mines – 48.1 thousand tons, down by 50%.
