Severstal reported that in January-March its average prices for iron ore pellets increased to $86 per ton from $36 per ton a year ago, with export destinations being Europe and the Near East.

In Q4 2016 Karelsky Okatysh sold pellets at $49 per ton on average, as the prices increased because of the Brazilian Samarco shutting down.

Severstal pellets sales in Q1 went up by 7% YoY, to 2.58 million tons, while exports increased by 16%, to 1.34 million tons. At the same time sales dropped by 8% QoQ.

Europe accounted for 72% of Severstal exports, with 23% of pellets supplied to the Near East, and the rest (5%) to other destinations. (Ukrainian metal)
