In March Ukraine mined 2.98 million tons of coal, down by 12.8% YoY, or by 438.2 thousand tons. The decrease has to do with the militants occupying coal enterprises of DTEK.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, the total yield of DTEK mines (Komsomolets Donbassa, Sverdlovantrazit and Rovenkiantrazit), is 30.3 thousand tons, as opposed to 1.89 million tons in January-February.
All in all in Q1 Ukraine mined 10.35 million tons of coal, up by 3.2% YoY, or by 317.7 thousand tons. Coking coal output dropped by 24.4%, or by 546.7 thousand tons, to 1.69 million tons, that of energy-generating coal went up by 11.1%, or by 864.5 thousand tons, to 8.66 million tons.
The ministry-controlled enterprises in January-March decreased coal output by 16.3% YoY, or by 258.8 thousand tons, to 1.33 million tons, with coking coal yield down by 42%, or by 203.1 thousand tons, to 280.6 thousand tons, energy-generating coal down by 5.1%, or by 55.7 thousand tons, to 1.05 million tons.
The Donetsk region mines yielded 3.54 million tons of coal in January-March, down by 12.9% YoY, Lugansk region – 1.4 million tons, up by 30.5%, Dniepropetrovsk region – 4.97 million tons, up by 12.6%, Lviv region – 398.6 thousand tons, up by 1.8%, and Volyn mines – 31.8 thousand tons, down by 42%.
