Out of 25 million tons of coal, used by Ukrainian power plants in 2016 anthracite accounted for only 9 million tons, with just 400 thousand purchased abroad, the people’s deputy, the Rada committee on the fuel and energy issues secretary Viktoria Voynitskaya reported.
Thus the “Rotterdam+” formula, supported by the Petr Poroshenko team, does not increase the level of energy independence from Russia, but just is the tool to get super profits for oligarchs, and for DTEK in particular.
According to Voynitskaya, before 2014 the Rinat Akhmetov energy holding earned some 15 billion UAH per year by receiving money from the state budget – subsidies for the coal industry. After this scheme was eliminated, the “Rotterdam+” formula was invented. Thanks to it DTEK still gets 10-15 billion UAH a year. (Ukrainian metal)
