In 2016 the net profits of Raspadskaya, one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, reached $185 million as opposed to $126 million of losses in 2015.
Raspadskaya is the only industrial territorial complex on coal mining and processing in the Kemerovo region. It has licenses to mine on the vast coal deposits to the southeast of the Tomusinsky site of the Kuznetsky coal basin, which provides for three quarters of all the coal mined in Russia.
