The minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik has confirmed the existence of the monopoly on the coal market.
“State mines occupy 18-20% of the market, but we will increase their share. 80% is on behalf of Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK”, he said. “So, the monopoly is quite obvious”.
Earlier the previous energy minister Vladimir Demchishyn said that DTEK became a monopoly because it invested a lot into bought or leased companies.
At present 3 out of Ukraine’s 5 thermal power-generating companies are controlled by DTEK: Vostokenergo (100%), Dneproenergo (72.9%) and Zapadenergo (72.2%).
Donbassenergo is 60.8% controlled by Energoinvest Holding, while Centerenergo – 78.3% by the state. (Ukrainian metal)
