The town of Avdiivka, Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works and the Donetsk filtering plant have been cut off the electricity grid following the shelling.

“One of the two water-heating boilers is operating, we will be providing heat but at a lower volume”, the company CEO Musa Magomedov reported.

On January 30, the plant was completely cut off electricity after the shelling. The repairmen were able to start supplying electricity to the works only on February 5.

Avdiivka Coke is the largest by-product coke works in Europe. It produces 31 types of goods, the main being coke for metal industry. The company accounts for 23% of Ukrainian bulk coke market.

Since the military activities started the works has been halted 14 times. The company has been constantly under fire, with over 320 shells exploding on its territory, 10 employees killed and 50 wounded. (Ukrainian metal)
