In 2016 Ukrainian coal mining companies produced 40.9 million tons of coal, up by 1.119 million tons, or by 2.8% YoY. At the same time state-owned mines saw a significant decrease in production, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry’s press service reports.
In particular, coalmining companies produced 32.5 million tons of steam coal and 8.4 million tons of coking coal. Thus, production of steam coal grew by 1.083 tons, or by 3.4% YoY, and output of coking coal – by 36.6 thousand tons, or by 0.4%.
Coalmining enterprises managed by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reduced production by 954.8 thousand tons, or by 14.2% YoY, to 5.8 million tons. In particular, output of steam coal decreased by 564.2 thousand tons, or by 11.8%, and coking coal – by 390.5 thousand tons, or by 20%. (Ukrinform/Ukrainian metal)
