In 2016 Ukraine exported 272.569 thousand tons of scrap, down by 77.5% YoY.
According to the customs statistics, published by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, exports also fell by 83.3% YoY, to $48.623 million.
In particular, in July-September 2016 Ukraine did not export any scrap, with 6.855 thousand tons exported in October 2016, 11.862 thousand tons in November 2016 and 20.485 thousand tons in December 2016. The decrease in exports resulted from the court prohibition to sell this strategic raw material abroad, as well as from the temporary increase in exports duties.

The main suppliers of scrap in 2016 were Turkey (68.93%) and Slovakia (23.98%), with Turkey being the largest importer as well (99.53%). (Ukrainian metal)
