Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works cannot put its blast furnace No. 5 into operation because of the raw material deliveries problems on behalf of Ukrzaliznytsia.
“The company has just finished repairing its BF5, but cannot put it into operation, and that’s some 45 thousand tons of pig iron in November alone (or $20 million). EMZ is one of the largest metal companies in Ukraine. It’s on the temporarily occupied territory, but it has been reregistered in Ukraine and pays taxes to the Ukrainian budget. And it could go idle because of Ukrzaliznytsia”, Ukrmetallurgprom president Alexander Kalenkov said.
According to him, there are 1400 railroad cars waiting to go to Yenakievo, and Ukrzaliznytsia doesn’t allow them to pass.
