DTEK Geroyev Kosmosa Mine Group has extracted 4 million tons of coal. Blagodatnaya and Geroyev Kosmosa mines ship the fuel to Ukrainian thermal power plants that fire thermal coal and generate electricity for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian households. Geroyev Kosmosa Mine Group leads the country’s coal production.
The miners have hit the mark of 4 million nine days before the scheduled date and seven days before the last-year record and made 18.5 km of mine tunnels since the turn of the year. This is the best performance in coal production in Ukraine and DTEK.
“It was not easy to deliver such performance. Today the mines are short on spare parts and components for headers and coal mining equipment as well as on human resources as 126 miners have been mobilized to serve in the army. But we must not fail the country in the autumn/winter season”, Sasun Mkrtchyan, Director of DTEK Geroyev Kosmosa Mine Group, stated. “We are going to great lengths to ensure uninterrupted operations. Our innovations have helped us save over 160 million UAH. Our team keeps proving that we can overcome the crisis, keep jobs and salaries”.
Moreover, the Mine Group launched an engineering shop in 2015. Currently, the facility operates more than twenty units of metal processing equipment (turning, milling and radial drilling machinery). Specialists are refurbishing the most critical spare parts to repair the mining equipment: cutting chains for KA200 coal cutter, scraper chains for headers, electric motor rotors and reducer shafts.
All the measures have helped the miners to produce 4 million tons of coal and will guarantee the achievement of the annual production targets. The 2016 annual plan is 4.5 million tons of coal. (Scmholding.com/Ukrainian metal)
