Zaporozhye Aluminum Works is still idle after a short period of work from August 31, till September 19. But it can resume manufacture of rolled wire in November if it is able to buy aluminum.

According to a company representative, ZALK is negotiating purchases from China.

“Chinese aluminum in Odessa ports could cost $200 per ton less compared to LME prices. At the same time, we fear the Chinese aluminum might be of inferior quality, not suitable to produce rolled wire”, he said.

The rolled wire produced in September has not been sold out. ZALK shop can produce 18 thousand tons of aluminum rolled wire per year. (Ukrainian metal)
