Ukrainian metal companies underreceived 420 thousand tons of scrap.
“Scrap procurement worsened in 2016. Even if there is no scrap export this year, we will still be short of it”, Alexander Kalenkov, Ukrmetallurgprom president, reported.
Earlier the company predicted the liquid steel output in 2016 on the level of 28-29 million tons.
“But only if we are fully provided with scrap”, Kalenkov added. “We could have given some 4-5 million tons more, if we had enough scrap and didn’t experience problems with railroad transportation”.
In H1 metal companies were 300 thousand tons short of scrap, while exports totaled 233 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
