Norilsk Nickel Corporate Security Unit at Polar Division – the Polar Transport Branch – has taken part in Vikhr MED-2016 specialist tactical exercises targeted at suppression of a terrorist attack on a maritime economic entity.

According to the script of the exercise, which involved over 300 persons, unidentified perpetrators captured a vessel offshore Dudinka Seaport. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Department Chief in the Taimyr District Sergey Grigoryev, a priority action plan was enacted to counteract the terrorist threat.

To neutralize the “criminals” a crisis response center was formed and headed by the Krasnoyarsk Krai Department Head of Federal Security Service of Russia General Lieutenant Vitaly Trushev comprising Head of the Taimyr District Ildar Dzhuraev, Head of Dudinka Municipal District Administration Sergey Tkachenko, and representatives of Security Departments of Polar Division and Polar Transport Branch Anton Romanteev, Nikolai Shishkin and Oleg Pulin.

The Nornickel Corporate Security Unit immediately assembled an Emergency Commission of the Polar Transport Division, conducted an emergency staff evacuation at Dudinka Seaport and suspended its operations, brought in the forces and equipment of MMC Norilsk Nickel Norilsk Industrial Area Asset Security Service Private Security Company.

The crisis response center-led operation managed to neutralize the fictional terrorists and free the “hostages”. The specialist tactical exercise was deemed satisfactory, all the units and departments involved have shown a prompt and well-delivered response.

The Krasnoyarsk Krai Department of Federal Security Service of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Department Chief in the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets District commended the professionalism of actions taken by the Security Departments of Polar Division and Polar Transport Branch during the preparations and the exercise.
