ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih intends to shut down its open-hearth manufacture when it completes its project of gas-purifying machine assembly at the converter shop.

“The operation of the open-hearth furnace was closely connected with the gas-purifying machine project in the converter shop. The sooner we finish the project, the sooner we will close the open-hearth manufacture”, said the company CEO Paramjit Kahlon.

He added that according to the investment agreement the company could use open-hearth manufacture till 2020, but wanted to give it up much earlier.

In 2016 AMKR plans to produce 6.9 million tons of steel. (Ukrainian metal)
