Ukraine: DMZ puts blast furnace into operation

In early May Donetsk Iron and Steel Works put its blast furnace #1 into operation. It’s a complex process, and at any moment it could be stopped because of the raw materials supplies instability.

Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works also intended to put a blast furnace into operation, but wasn’t able to do it. The process is also difficult, but if all goes well, the furnace could be put into operation by the end of the month.

Companies put additional capacities into operation as the result of world prices increase.

Since spring 2015 DMZ has been operating only one blast furnace with the capacity of 57 thousand tons per month. Alchevsk Works operated 2 blast furnaces. (Ukrainian metal)
