In March Ukrainian metal makers produced 2.2 million tons of steel, up by 30% YoY and 12% MoM. That is the highest result since July 2014 when the escalation of the military activity in Donbass dropped steel output by 28% MoM.

In Q1 steel output increased by 4% QoQ and by 19% YoY, to 6.1 million tons. Rolled metal production went up by 18% YoY, to 5.3 million tons, that of pig iron – by 24% YoY, to 5.9 million tons, while coke output increased by 35% YoY, to 3.3 million tons.

At the same time steel pipe production dropped by 15% YoY, to 187 thousand tons due to the low exports to Russia. (Ukrainian metal)
