In January Ukraine produced 1920 thousand tons of pig iron, 1938 thousand tons of steel and 1689 thousand tons of rolled metal, up by 112% and 103% and down by 98% YoY respectively.
As of February 1, Ukraine operated 23 out of 30 blast furnaces (77%), 8 out of 9 open-hearth furnaces (89%) and 18 out of 21 converters (86%). Donetsk Electrometallurgical works and Donetsk Iron and Steel Works are still idle.
Iron ore raw materials exports totaled 2.8 million tons, down by 29% MoM. Ukrainian companies supplied 2050 thousand tons of iron ore raw materials to the works, including 390 thousand tons of sinter ore, 680 thousand tons of concentrate, 290 thousand tons of sinter and 690 thousand tons of pellets, down by 20%, 7% and 19%, and up by 25% MoM. Russian imports increased by 100 thousand tons MoM, to 310 thousand tons.
Ukraine also supplied 560 thousand tons of coal to its coke works, which was on the level of December 2015, while imports went up by 180 thousand tons, to some 950 thousand tons. In January Ukrainian coke works received 1.5 million tons of coking coals, up by 12% MoM and by 22% YoY.
Coke deliveries to metal works increased by 65 thousand tons MoM, to 925 thousand tons, with imports down by 36 thousand tons, to 50 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
